How should I store my jewelry?
Thread has a natural memory. When not being worn, earrings should be hung or laid flat to support their intended form over time. When traveling, it is recommended to store earrings separately from other jewelry to help prevent surface contact, scratching, or snagging of the beadwork. Thoughtful storage helps maintain both shape and finish with wear.
Should my jewelry be kept dry?
Yes! Please refrain from wearing jewelry while showering, swimming, or during activities involving heat or heavy perspiration. Exposure to moisture, humidity, chemicals, and minerals (including pools, hot springs, and saunas) can compromise the integrity of delicate finishes over time. For longevity, store pieces in a cool, dry place outside of bathrooms.
Does my jewelry tarnish?
Brass may naturally oxidize over time and will occasionally require polishing. This is a normal material response and part of the character of the metal. Some prefer a bright, reflective finish, while others love the depth of a softer, antique patina—both are valid and beautiful.
Pieces finished in 18k gold over brass will age based on wear and care. Longevity is best supported by mindful storage and avoiding moisture, heat, perspiration, and chemicals. Please refer to the care guidance above for best practices.
When polishing is desired, use a dry, soft polishing cloth only. Liquid or chemical polishing agents are not recommended, as they may adversely affect the organic beadwork.
I didn’t follow the care instructions - do you offer repairs?
Yes, in many cases. Jewelry is meant to be worn and enjoyed, and over time pieces may need maintenance or repair. If care instructions were not followed or if a piece has experienced accidental damage, environmental exposure, or normal wear, repairs are not considered manufacturing defects and may incur a repair fee.
Please contact us before attempting any at-home fixes. Unauthorized repairs, alterations, or the use of adhesives, chemicals, or tools can cause additional damage and may limit our ability to service the piece. When possible, we’re happy to review your piece and offer guidance on repair options.

Return Policy
Mountain Maiden operates as a small-batch studio, producing limited quantities finished by hand. Product listings include detailed descriptions, dimensions, and model photographs to support informed purchases. Returns and exchanges are not accepted unless an item arrives damaged or defective. Slight variations in color, texture, scale, or finish are inherent to handcrafted work and are not considered defects or grounds for return. Issues must be reported within 2 days of delivery and may require photographic documentation. Approved returns must be shipped back within 3 days of approval, unworn, unaltered, and in original condition. Customers are responsible for return shipping costs; original shipping fees, customs duties, and taxes are non-refundable. Sale, custom, or personalized items are final sale unless damaged or defective. Cancellations must be requested within 24 hours of purchase; orders that have entered fulfillment or shipped cannot be canceled. Returns sent without prior authorization may not be accepted, and approved refunds are issued to the original form of payment after inspection. While policies protect our small studio, we review situations on a case-by-case basis and encourage customers to reach out with questions or concerns.
